Gloria White, NP, Women's Health, Psychiatry, Mental Health
Gloria WhiteGLORIA J. WHITE RN-C MS NP joined Snyder OB/GYN in June of 2007, bringing her 29 years of Women’s Health experience, along with her new specialty of Psychiatry & Mental Health to the practice.

Gloria graduated from Niagara County Community College in 1972 and began working at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center as an RN, transferring to the OB/GYN & Newborn unit in 1978. Finding her niche in Women’s Health, she became an avid patient advocate and after certification as a Lamaze instructor, established her own private childbirth education practice in addition to her hospital work. As a working single mother of 2 children at this time, she strongly identified with the women she cared for.

After attending D’Youville College part time in the evenings, she received her BSN in 1982. This led to her first management position as Clinic Coordinator at Planned Parenthood of Buffalo & Erie County, a job that combined her love of patient education, feminism, new administrative skills and advocacy with the care of women. At Planned Parenthood, Gloria was exposed to the role of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) and was so impressed by their ability to deliver care that combined “high tech” with “high touch”, that she again returned to school, graduating from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a Masters Degree in Nursing, specializing in Women’s Health, in 1990.

From 1986 through 2003, Gloria worked in a busy private practice in Niagara Falls, NY as an OB/GYN NP. During this time, she also was a clinical preceptor for Graduate NP students from UB, Daemen and D’Youville Colleges. She served on the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood of Niagara County, gave health lectures for the general public at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and was a guest lecturer in the Adult Nurse Practitioner program at the Graduate school at Daemen College.

Always being aware of the additional problems that impacted her patients, she found that the stressors they faced in their lives, careers & families were as important as their medical care. Dealing so often with anxiety, addiction, depression, domestic violence & more led Gloria to pursue a Post Masters Certification in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing at the University of Buffalo; she completed this program in December 2006.

Her colleagues at Snyder OB/GYN, Christina Galbraith, RN-C NP, Stephen Mechtler, MD and Gretchen Sciarrino, RN-C MS NP share her philosophy that patients are people first. Gloria approaches her patients as she would like to be treated herself when seeking medical care, striving to listen to their concerns and to establish an open dialogue.

She encourages patients to include holistic approaches such as Yoga, Acupuncture, Reiki & other complementary modalities along with balanced nutrition, exercise & spirituality in seeking optimum health.

Gloria is also practices at Niagara Frontier Psychiatric Associates, Planned Parenthood of Western New York & as an Acupuncture Detox Specialist for those seeking to overcome smoking (& other) addictions. She continues to lecture & consult periodically.
