GRETCHEN SCIARRINO has joined Snyder OB/GYN as a nurse practitioner (NP) whose practice is dedicated to gentle, compassionate care of women throughout their life span. She incorporates relaxation and stress relief techniques specifically designed to provide the most comfortable gynecologic exams. Gretchen brings more than 15 years of energetic, thorough and non-judgmental women’s health experience to this practice.
Gretchen spent several years living in the San Francisco Bay Area where she worked at Planned Parenthood and was first introduced to women’s issues and high quality women’s healthcare. Always dedicated to the well-being of women and impressed by her colleagues, the NPs, Gretchen decided to join their ranks. She returned to Buffalo and began her own NP pursuit.
In her continued dedication to women’s health, Gretchen has endeavored to keep her skills current and has worked as an NP at Planned Parenthood, University GYN/OB and Snyder OB/GYN. In these varied environments she has been exposed to new treatments, philosophies and procedures, providing many opportunities to broaden her scope of practice and develop additional skills. In addition, Gretchen encourages new NPs and RNs by providing mentorship and training.
To create a calming environment for her patients, Gretchen utilizes relaxation and stress relief techniques based on yoga practice and breath work which provide a gentle and comfortable female exam. She listens carefully, encourages open communication and is receptive to alternative approaches and treatments. Above all, Gretchen’s goal is to provide compassionate and respectful care.
Gretchen is certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner by the National Certificate Corporation, is a member of the American Society of Colposcopic and Cervical Pathology, the Nurse Practitioners Association of New York State and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Gamma Kappa Chapter.
